This is me. My name is Nicolas Brochen, I was born in France in 2004 and I’m currently studying GMP at the IUT in Cachan. At first sight, I’m a fairly conventional person, but there are many interests behind me…
Discreet in school as in life, I’m curious and passionate. I’ve always tried to understand how the objects around me work. And to learn more and more about new innovations and technologies. This curiosity has enabled me to acquire a wealth of knowledge and skills.
The start of a great adventure
It all began in 2017, the year I turned 13. I asked for a 3D printer for my birthday after discovering a Youtuber. It was the beginning of the fidget toy phenomenon with hand spinners. Numerous videos were posted on YouTube. Especially videos of different 3D models of hand spinners.
That’s how I got interested in the principle of 3D printing.
My very first printer was a DiscoEasy 200 bought for 350€ from Dagoma, a small French company at the time. First of all, this printer was a kit, which I had to assemble entirely on my own. It wasn’t easy, but I managed.

My first attempts were not a success, I would even say a disaster. To tell you the truth, for the first month I couldn’t print a single part (all because of a faulty USB cable).
But in spite of these minor problems, I was finally able to print my first part. Then, of course, came the time to print something creative and innovative… a hand spinner.
Yes, I was very inspired when I was younger ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
After learning how to use a 3D printer properly, I got into modeling. I then learned to use FreeCAD, which wasn’t very instinctive. So I turned to Fusion 360, which I’ve been using ever since.
My other hobbies
I’m also interested in the latest developments in new technologies (PC components, 3D printing, cars…). I’m an avid mountain biker, having ridden for 5 years in a club.
I also love model making. With my father-in-law, who’s been into it for much longer, we ride in a club. He’s the one who mainly taught me everything, from assembly to technical knowledge.
After that, I’m a very curious person, so as soon as something catches my eye, I get interested.
